FILM-O-MANIA{PURL}

WINNERS

  1. Sameer MK (RCSIESN)

The video gave us all the big picture of society and how they react to accepting something. The video made me realize the importance of being there for someone to help someone lift their will to speak or talk and make the best out of them, many struggles with people who just don't appreciate and support them and they end up degrading the charm which is not right and should be immediately looked after. Sometimes people tend to do things unlike being themselves just to be accepted within the society and, I don't want society allegations to restrict someone's potential and they should be accepted for who they are and loved for the same. I can proudly say that from the video I learned that sharing love and support will help others to fightback the society norms and be as they are and always be there for someone even in their toughest times and not Just in their happy moments

 2.Bharath Iyer (RCSIESN)

I just loved how the film revolves around the concept of 'change' from the very beginning. Like how a 'ball of yarn' is hired in the first place. This highlighted that one's talent and hard work speaks for itself. And then comes the point of 'accepting the change'. She(Purl) tries to fit in with the colleagues but they don't accept/see her as part of their team. So she changes herself in a manner that everyone likes her. This also highlights the 'mentality of society'. One must learn to accept the changes too. Last but not least, 'Be the change you want to see'. When a new employee is hired who is also a ball of yarn, everyone chooses to ignore her including Purl. But then she thinks about it and decides to bring her along for the happy hour a moment later. This tells us that Purl finally accepts herself and others who are like her and makes others accept the same fact. I think the important message is to not lose ourselves whilst trying to impress others!

3. Shikha Kumari (Rotaract DPSRU)

The thing that I like is when new wool (lacy) joined the company purl didn't leave her alone and her realization that she didn't need to change herself to gain recognition and fame. I think the whole film is an outlook of our society, it's not only about any workplace. It's about our system in which if you are a minority and different from others you will have to either fight back or completely change yourself according to societal norms to fit in the space. But, here it showed a whole different concept where one single realization and bold step of purl that she is different and this is her strength and not weakness, changed the whole story. I learned that we need to believe in us and our capabilities and don't need to change for other's approval. We are unique and this our beauty on which we should proud and should always take stand for equality and justice.

SPECIAL MENTION

  1.  Aakash Jain (Rotaract club of DPSRU)

The concept of 'oneself changing just to please others' is what I liked the most. We all are social beings and we all somewhere adjust according to other people so that we can become a part of their group and interact with them. Gradually, we start changing ourselves - our routine, habits, our viewpoints and finally losing our identity and ending with becoming a part of the mob who doesn't care who you are. But still, we do it because we don't want people to call us 'deviant or different'. We don't want people to consider us as a third person. We start craving for more attention and start expecting too much. But a time comes when our life shows us a mirror of who we are. The yellow wool (lacy) is symbolic of the mirror image of purl. One has to learn that becoming a part of a mob won't be beneficial. What is more important is that one has to maintain their identity in a mob rather than losing it just for the sake of grabbing attention because we are unique in our way.
